DAY 1: LIMA / TRUJILLO – SUN AND MOON TEMPLE -CHAN CHAN - HUANCHACO

Morning flight to Trujillo, city of the eternal spring and transfer to your hotel. This city, today the 3. largest of Peru, was founded in december 1534 on the orders of the Spanish conquistador Francisco Pizarro and maintains its colonial atmosphere. Before lunch we will visit the Sun and Moon Temple - two pyramids of the Moche Culture. In the afternoon we will view Chan Chan, the largest adobe city of America and former capital of the Chimu Empire. Then will stroll along Huanchaco beach observing the traditional reed boats known as “Caballitos de Totora” used by local fishermen in the same way as their Moche and Chimu ancestors. DAY 2: TRUJILLO – CITY TOUR / CHICLAYO - TUCUME

After breakfast we begin the city tour which includes Trujillo´s magnificent Main Square with its cathedral from the 17th century, ornate colonial mansions and the archaeological museum, which offers a collection of archaeological finds from all the different pre-Colombian cultures of the Northern Peruvian coast. In the mid morning we will board our vehicle which takes us through desert landscapes, interspersed by fertile river valleys with expansive suger cane and rice fields and we reach Chiclayo 3 hours later. Accommodation at your hotel and after lunch we visit the Túcume Pyramids with the impressive temple Huaca Larga, the largest adobe building in the world ( approx. 2300 ft long ). The Norwegian adventurer Thor Heyerdahl of Kon-Tiki fame, explored these pyramids which revealed burial sites with textiles, Incan figurines and paintings. In the local museum managed by the inhabitants of the area, you will appreciate a realistic depiction of how people lived here 1000 years ago. Overnight in Chiclayo.

DAY 3: HUACA RAJADA / MUSEUM OF THE ROYAL TOMBS / PIURA

In the morning we depart from Chiclayo to the famous archaeological site of Huaca Rajada close to the village of Sipan, where the amazing treasures of the Lord of Sipan were found in 1987 by the Peruvian archaeologist Dr. Walter Alva. Then we visit the Museum of the Royal Tombs in Lambayeque, a real highlight of this tour; there are exhibited hundreds of gold, silver and ceramic treasures of the Lord of Sipan and other important Moche governors. After lunch we take our bus to Piura in a three hour trip through vast desert landscapes and we transfer you to the hotel The most important culture that developed in this northern region was Vicus, which stood out for its ceramics and delicate work in gold. In 1 532 Francisco Pizarro founded the first Spanish city, in the Valley of Tangarará, on the banks of the Chira river, and named it San Miguel de Piura.

DAY 4: PIURA – CITY TOUR - CATACAOS – NARIHUALÁ / COLAN

After breakfast we will make a short city tour. The Cathedral dates back to Colonial times as well as San Francisco, the oldest church in the city. Here the independence of this department was proclaimed on January 4th, 1 821. In the Almirante Miguel Grau Museum was born the most remarkable Peruvian Navy hero. The Vicus Museum is also worth visiting. Afterwards we visit Catacaos 12 km southwest from Piura This is a typical town with deeply rooted customs. It stands out for its straw work, cotton handicrafts and, primarily for its gold and silver filigree work. There are archaeological remains in Narihualá. Located 5 km south of Catacaos Narihualá was the capital of the Tallán Nation and is the most important architectural evidence of a former great monument both for its size and the prominent platforms of the two pyramids. In the afternoon we go to Colán Beach located 1 hour from Piura. The resort is a beautiful spot with the necessary infrastructure to enjoy a pleasant beach day. Colán also features the Church of San Lucas de Colán, the first Catholic temple built by the Spaniards on the South Pacific coast in 1536 . Night in Playa Colán Lodge.

   
COLN / MNCORA
DAY 5: COLÁN / MÁNCORA

After a refreshing bath in the Pacific we continue our tour at mid-morning to the famous beach resort of Máncora where we will arrive for lunch. During the entire year the far North coast between Máncora and Tumbes offers an excellent climate and the most beautiful beaches of Peru. Máncora is perfect for surfing, fishing and relaxing and in your lovely hotel just in front of a white sandy beach with palm trees you will feel like in the Carribean. Rest of the day free for bathing or shopping in the village. Overnight in Máncora.

   
COLN / TUMBES
DAY 6: COLÁN / TUMBES

In the morning we go to Puerto Pizarro nearby Tumbes, the first Peruvian city founded by the Spanish conquerors in 1532. We take a boat for a tour to the Nacional Mangrove Sanctuary Its plant formations in the shape of large water forests that form swamps, create an attractive, paradise-like setting. We will also visit a crododile farm and you can watch different birds. We take lunch in Tumbes and drive back to the hotel in Máncora where we spend the last night of this amazing tour.

   
MNCORA / TUMBES / LIMA
DAY 7: MÁNCORA / TUMBES / LIMA

You can spend the last day at your disposal, relaxing at the pool or on the beach. In the afternoon we transfer you to the Tumbes airport for your flight back to Lima.
